July 30th, 2008 — From The Feeds, underworld, vampires, werewolves

Rhona Mitra looks pretty badass in her armor, but can “Underworld 3” really deliver the goods? Think about it. They’re taking out a lot of the things that worked in the first two films: the modern setting, hybrids, gunplay, Kate Beckinsale in latex, etc. and replacing them with what looks like a costume drama. Obviously there’s going to be action, but the budget will limit what they can do. I suspect we’ll see the occasional skirmish but no bloodbaths on the battlefield. And we already know how Sonja and Lucian's relationship will turn out. I'm not seeing the audience grabber...

I've been sitting in the back seat watching the stories unfold regarding Lionsgate vs. Clive Barker about his film
The Midnight Meat Train. We reported awhile back that the film was slated to open in limited theaters on August 1st, which is all fine and dandy, until I found out that the film is opening in dollar theaters... yeah, $1 theaters. "
They're dumping it at mostly dollar theaters (the second run theaters, so it'll make even LESS money)," writes B-D reader Brian W. (one of a handful who wrote in). "
It's playing at a Dollar Theater in Norwalk and Oklahoma and Idaho. Check MovieTickets.com if you don't believe me. " The question is, why does Lionsgate want the movie to make less money than it would normally in limited theaters? I'm going to investigate this further as something seems
off. B-D readers are encouraged to report their findings below, good or bad.

Last night saw the relaunch of SciFi Channel's "Scare Tactics". Ditching the old host, Shannon Doherty, they're now back with non other than Tracy Morgan!
The basic formula has not changed at all: People submit their friends to a cruel joke, Tracy Morgan makes quips between skits. Pretty basic. As "Candid ...

July 30th, 2008 — amc, From The Feeds, i am a big lame, i'm a nerd, I'm so fucking old, Resident Evil, SDCC

Jabba works his bitches hard, y'all!
That's the last picture I took at Comic-Con- I only took about 15 altogether, despite going into it thinking I'd get all Jimmy Olsen up in that shit. Instead, I took about 3 pictures of my friends, 3 pictures of myself with friends, and 10 pictures of Star Wars statues because I am a NERD.
As if you didn't know that already.
It's weird, though- there's something about digital photography that makes me less likely to actually take pictures. I'm a luddite crone.
As if you didn't know that already.
(edited to add a decidedly NERDish photo of life-size BSG Centurion that had a red eye light that went back and forth)

The Powers That Be decided to run the newest Ghostella episode until Monday; sorry about that- I know you've all been wringing your hands and peeing your pants in anticipation!
The AMC train is running right on schedule, though, and they've posted my column
lamenting the loss of the drive-in and coming up with some double features I'd like to see.
Omigod, I am a crone!
Shock Till You Drop has got a
gallery of photos from Resident Evil: Degeneration, the forthcoming CGI feature based on the Konami video games. You know, the movie I'm salivating over (because I am a NERD) but learned nothing about at Comic-Con because I got shut out of the panel because of all the effing peoplekdjkdjdkjhkja;sASD;fCXCDJK...............

In other wow, I missed the panel but I'm not at all bitter about it- okay, who am I kidding, I'm totally fucking bitter about it news,
SciFi.com has the whole hour long shebang up at their website. No, I have not watched it yet because I am
a big lame currently embroiled in a...in a...err, something something danger and intrigue.

This past weekend Universal Pictures showed the first footage from their remake of
The Wolfman, which you can all now see by reading on. Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., new pic will be set in Victorian England. Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.

Inside you'll find a hi-res look at the poster for the live-action adaptation of
The Goon, a comic book series created by Eric Powell in 1999. The story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest.

Need to get a horror erection? All you have to do is click
here to check out the newly launched official website for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures'
Friday the 13th. We know there's absolutely nothing going on there, but damn it's cool to know that it's coming. Also, the mask shown is perfect for slapping on your desktop background, look at that, it's on mine now! The pic directed by Marcus Nispel is the retelling of the original Friday the 13th about teenaged summer camp counselors that are systematically slaughtered by a mysterious killer. Jason Voorhees will wear the mask and kill, keeping the famous setting of Crystal Lake.

This past weekend we caught an early look at the poster for Lionsgate's
My Bloody Valentine, but when we tried to get a hi-res look, we were told the MPAA rejected the poster just like they did the HOSTEL: PART II teaser a year earlier. Empire scored a look, check it out inside. In the remake Tom (Jensen Ackles) returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine's night massacre that claimed the life of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders. Directed by Patrick Lussier, the film arrives in theaters January 16th, 2009 in 3-D...

The San Diego Comic Con is so hectic that we rarely get more than three-minutes to chat one-on-one with a filmmaker, or star. Such the case with Rhona Mitra, who will topline Sony Screen Gems'
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, which arrives in theaters January 23rd. Inside you can read BC's brief, albeit hilarious chat with the star who talks about her role and the possibilities of returning in a sequel. Click
here for all Comic Con coverage.
