Dec 31, Upcoming Horror Movies We Can’t Wait to See in 2012

Halloween 3D, Leatherface 3DA brand new year is right around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about what horror movies we are most looking forward to in 2012. There will be a ton of new horror movies in 2012. Some of the movies we have been waiting for a long time to see, some have a great cast or director and some just look like they will be fantastic.

Of course this is not a complete list of upcoming horror movies in 2012, it’s just the horror films we are the most excited to see this year.

Underworld: Endless War

Thought I posted this already...

I was always a big advocate of taking the Underworld universe into the realm of animation, so I was excited to see a clip of the animated short included as an extra on the upcoming DVD boxset. Apparently, it's a prequel to Underworld: Awakening and explains what happened to Michael -- you might have noticed that he isn't in the trailer. Can't say that I'm a huge fan of the artwork. Reminds me of Van Helsing: The London Assignment.

At one point, I seriously toyed with the idea of creating concept art for my werewolf script and putting it on youtube. Nothing fancy, just a simple slideshow set to music. Maybe I'll revisit the concept in 2012.

17th Precinct

17th Precinct is was a police procedural set in a world governed by magic and intuition. Science and reason? Ha! Created by Battlestar Galactica's (SYFY) Ron Moore, it didn't make the cut for NBC's 2011-2012 season, but you can check out the pilot below...

UPDATE: Well, that didn't last very long. Hope you had a chance to see it.

A little clunky, which is the case with most pilots, but certainly watchable -- perhaps a little too fantastical for casual viewers. I don't think they'd be willing to invest the time to learn the rules of an alternate and magical reality. The cast had good chemistry. Battlestar vets like Tricia Helfer, Jamie Bamber and James Callis probably helped with that. I enjoyed the way things came together at the end. Two opposing beliefs on a collision course: head vs. heart.

Overall, 17th Precinct seems better suited as a mini-series than an episodic drama. Still, it was nice to see someone try something off the beaten path.

Dec 30, Freaky Chicks in Horror and Why They Creep Us Out

Freaky Women in HorrorCarrie is the quintessential movie that depicts the current cultural flux associated with attitudes towards women.  The protagonist is a victim, who begins to understand the extent of her power.  She is oppressed both by a puritanical mother who wants to separate her from her sexuality and a cabal of girls who see her as abnormal.  Carrie is at once a pitiful girl, a hopeful adolescent and an enraged monster, who inflicts  all manners of destruction against friends and foes alike.  In Carrie, women dominate, absolutely.  The girls at school are evil instigators.

Dec 29, The Millennium Bug Trailer Has a Giant Monster & an Alien Bug

The Millennium Bug PosterDo you remember in 1999 all the fear about the so-called Year 2000 problem also referred to as Y2K, the Y2K bug, or the Millennium bug? When the computer bug hit the whole world would be in chaos due to a computer programing malfunction? I do and The Millennium Bug dives into the theory and will provide us with in-breed hillbillies, a giant monster and an alien bug.

Zombie AssZombie Ass aka Zonbi asu a Japanese horror film will be brought to you by Noboru Iguchi, the director of Machine Girl, Robo-Geisha, Karate Robo Zaborgar and Mutant Girls Squad.  Also helping to create a visually interesting film is special effects guest Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police, Suicide Club).

Dec 29, Holy Crap! Multiple Demonic Possessions in The Devil Inside Clip

The Devil Inside StillIt looks like The Devil Inside opening in theaters on January 6, 2012 will take horror movie fans to a new level in the exoticism themed film.  The clip below shows a woman that has been possessed by multiple demons, four to be exact.  The demonic possession almost resembles multiple personality disorder.  What the hell?

The image shows a photo taken after an exorcism has been completed and it looks brutal. I hope this film turns out to be really good, that would be a great way to start off the New Year!

Dec 28, The Munsters Pilot Details Revealed

The Munsters Family Portrait in Black and WhiteThere are some specific details coming out about The Munsters revamp coming to NBC. Best-Horror-Movies.com reported on 'The Munsters leaked storyline' earlier in December when it came to light that this show was not going to be a remake but rather a “re-imagining” with the pilot focusing on young Eddie Munster and his growing tendency to become a werewolf during the full moon and attack his boy scout buddies on camping trips. Newer information reported by MovieHole.net gets into even more detail, although we’re not sure where this information came from…
