f you’re a fan of straight to Sy-Fy features, you may find Metal Shifters aka Iron Inturders a bit surprising. The film is by no means a masterpiece, but when compared to similar efforts pumped out by the now notorious Sy-Fy, Metal Shifters is a fairly entertaining piece of cinema.

Dark Tide has a new poster that just makes me less interested in seeing this shark film than ever before. It appears they are gong for a surfer flick vibe than a horror thriller that I would want to watch. The second poster seemed a lot more creepy to me.

Dark Tide found distribution through Lionsgate. The horror film will be available on March 8, 2012 via VOD and will make a limited theatrical release on March 30, 2012.

The Aggression Scale will make it's world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival's midnight category next month. The Aggression Scale has been referred to an 80's influenced thriller with teenagers as the heroes. The film is about four heavily armed hit-men and two unusual teenagers go to war over $500,000 of stolen cash.

I figured if I was going to launch a regular column of this nature, I may as well come out swinging, and cover one of the greatest horror films ever made, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Not only did the movie act as a technically brilliant genre feature, it eventually became one of the most influential films in cinematic history. If anyone is worth acknowledging, it’s the late, great Hitchcock. It’s just too damn bad Gus Van Sant completely fumbled the ball when he inadvertently slaughtered a classic.

After drawing early critical acclaim, Howie Askins’ shocker, Evidence will be arriving on DVD, March 12th courtesy of Showbox Home Entertainment. Written by Ryan McCoy, who also stars alongside Brett Rosenberg, Abigail Richie and Ashley Bracken, Evidence serves as a good reminder that camping can be dangerous, especially with a camera.

Evidence utilizes the found footage approach, and judging by the reviews I’ve caught thus far; this group of filmmakers take a few rewarding risks. Daniel Wall handles the cinematography in this slater-in-the-woods tale.
