PLANET OF THE APES isn't really horror, but still pretty damn horrifying. Sure the twist is out of this world, but the concept is as frightening as ever, which is why 20Th Century Fox is apparently prepping a prequel to the film, according to
CHUD. "
. Called GENESIS: APES, it's essentially a remake of CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, the fourth film in the original Apes cycle, which ends with the apes taking over the world from humans," reports the site. You can read about the latest update by clicking the link above.

One of the most popular "underrated" sequels here on Bloody-Disgusting is HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH, which is so popular that it has it's own dedicated "appreciation thread". Fans of the film should get excited as director Tommy Lee Wallace is making his return to horror have six years MIA with
Helliversity. You can read all about it beyond the break.

The trailer looks interesting and all, but a 150+ million dollar budget?!? That's an awful big gamble.

This weekend we added our official review for Image Entertainment's
My Name is Bruce, which is currently hitting limited theaters across the country. "
BRUCE was made for Campbell fans and nobody else. With all the quips, references and smart-alecky charm that Campbell brings to the table, theres not a single second thats hard not to love. While technically flawed, the heart is there and its in the right place." Click the title for the full review.

Wondering what James Tucker, the director behind AUNT ROSE, SKINNED ALIVE and PINK EYE, has been up to as of late? After finally wrapping up on FLICKS CHICKS (a non-horror romantic comedy), Tucker is returning to directing that which we drool for, more edgy horror. This time its via a vampire web-based series called THE TURNING. Tucker broke the news to Bloody-Disgusting and had this to say: I am just finishing pre-productions and casting on a web series called, The Turning. The first cast meeting is scheduled for the second week on November. Its a dark, character driven story about a woman who is bitten by a vampire and struggles with the transformation. If all goes well, I plan to shoot the last two weeks in November. After the web series run of twelve, 10 minute episodes, my plan is to create a feature length, horror film that picks up where the web series leaves off. Newcomers Yvette Bass and Arielle Brachfeld (Return of the Ghostbusters) have signed on thus far.

I've read a few of Joe Donnelly's books and most of them are set in Scotland. The Shee is a little different. Although the central character is Scotsman the story is set in Ireland and is based on the Morrigan of Celtic myth. Donnelly gives the impression of being quite knowledgeable on the subject and he does a good job of working that knowledge into the story. I must admit, though, that I didn't enjoy The Shee as much as I did Donnelly's other works... [Excerpt only.

You haven;t even seen the movie yet, but I know you still want to get your mitts on Dark Horse Comics' Bruce Campbell action figure, as seen in their upcoming feature film,
My Name Is Bruce. The fully articulated doll is formed from a 3-D scan of Campbell himself. Besides a custom fabric miniature version of his actual Hawaiian shirt, which was loaned to us by Mr. Campbell, proving that he's the kind of partner who would "give you the shirt off his back," an array of movie-specific accessories are included. Two of these are miniature "angel" and "devil" versions of Mr. Campbell. They attach to his shoulders using hidden magnets. Additionally, we have: Shemps Olde Tyme Whiskey, A Bruce collectible toy in melted package, refreshing Lemon Drink bottle, A miniature Chins book and a big honkin' gun with price tag still attached.
